My introduction to rowing began when my daughter chose crew as her sport during her 9th-grade year. Little did we know, this decision would immerse us in an entirely new world. We found ourselves quickly navigating the requirements—like taking a float test at our local pool and registering with U.S. Rowing—before the season began.
Once the season kicked off, we discovered just how much dedication the sport demands. Practices took place off-campus every day after school, requiring transportation, and weekends were spent lakeside at regattas across the state. Despite the logistical challenges, I cherished every moment of it—perhaps even more than my daughter did!
We are part of a public school team composed of students from four district high schools, supported by an incredible community of kids, coaches, and parents. Our booster club works tirelessly to keep the program alive, and I’m proud to contribute to that effort. As part of my commitment to this sport, 10% of Row & Flow sales will go directly back into our team, as long as the district permits it.
